Lalita Abhyankar is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician based in San Fransisco, CA.

She is currently a Podcast Fellow at Health Affairs, producing a series on how consolidation in health care is affecting independent primary care. She is also a regular contributor for the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Fresh Perspectives blog.

She previously worked as a full time family physician at the Institute for Family Health’s Cadman Family Health Center, a federally qualified health center in Brooklyn, NY. She served as a Board member and the Chair of the Commission on Advocacy at the New York State Academy of Family Physicians.

She graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine- Tucson in 2014 with a distinction in Integrative Medicine. She completed her residency training in 2017 at the New York Presbyterian- Columbia Family Medicine Residency Program, where she served as Chief Resident during her third year and won the Family Medicine Resident Award for Advocacy. She also holds a Master in Health Sciences in Environmental Health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

Her interests include developing practical, innovative tools that will facilitate primary care, improve physician wellness, and lead to a more equitable health care system. She is also passionate about storytelling as a form of advocacy.
